Dancing with Poetry Workshop:
This is a fun, high-energy session, led by founder and executive director of the Alzheimer's Poetry Project, Gary Glazner. The workshop teaches simple techniques and skills to facilitate reciting poetry to people living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementia. Reciting poetry helps spark memories. By the end of the sessions workshop attendees will know how to structure a poetry program for people living with Alzheimer's disease. The will understand how to use poetry to start group discussions with their family members or clients. The workshop participants will leave the workshop with increased knowledge of projection, articulation, pacing of the recitation, dynamics, and how to bring out the emotional content of the poem. You will learn how to use poetry to make people laugh, sigh over a remembered love or dance. Yes! Dance to poetry. Alzheimer's Poetry Project founder Gary Glazner can be booked to conduct trainings and poetry readings by sending email to gary@alzpoetry.org.

The Humor
One of the men had been a Lieutenant Colonel, he had spent 30 years, in the army when I read a poem he doesn’t like, such as a rap version of “The Raven,” he gives me the thumbs down, when he approves he gives me a thumbs up. When I read a sad poem he plays an imaginary “air” violin.
